The Market

All cooking classes include a Dadaocheng market and neighborhood stories walk, starting from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm every day except Monday.
Normally, Monday is our day off, as is also the day off of all traditional markets in Taipei.

If your booking date coincides with the market’s irregular closure, we will adjust the pre-cooking class market tour to focus on a stroll through the alleys of Dadaocheng Old Street and storytelling.

BeMyGuest Taipei

Alex used to work as a flight attendant, starting as a rookie and eventually becoming a cabin purser, then a training instructor for new crew members. He spent almost ten years in the airline industry, dedicating his time to service, teaching, and training.

He’s passionate about traveling, food, and wine—and he’s been to countless places around the world, always eager to eat and drink like a local. Instead of hanging out in shopping malls, Alex prefers exploring the local markets wherever he goes. That’s where he finds the real magic of each city.

With experience as a cabin purser and former flight attendant, Alex has also been a backpacker exploring countries around the world, the author of several Bali travel guides, and even a volunteer Mandarin teacher in Dharamsala, India. His life has been filled with adventure and a touch of legend.

Choosing to settle down in Dadaocheng, where his grandmother once worked hard, carries a story of its own.

The lovely name “Hao Ke Taipei” (好客台北 BeMyGuest Taipei) was inspired by the grandma who influenced Alex the most. His hospitable grandma would always say when hosting guests at home:

“Use the spirit of Hao Ke (hospitality) to welcome Hao Ke Ren (good guests).”

“用好客的精神來招待好客人”

Welcome, Hao Ke Ren!
