A Journey through Dadaocheng and Traditional Markets

First, follow Alex through the alleys of Dadaocheng, listening to local stories and gossip, as you make your way to the traditional market. Besides getting to know the local ingredients, you’ll also have the opportunity to taste authentic traditional delicacies.

Luroufan 滷肉飯 & Pork thick soup 蒜味肉羹湯

Lurofan 滷肉飯, the braised pork rice and Pork thick soup 蒜味肉羹湯 is a garlic-flavored meat thick soup. In times of past economic hardship, meat was a luxury for most common people. To find satisfaction in their meals, some began using inexpensive cuts of pork and collagen-rich pig skin to create the time-honored dish of braised pork rice, which has been passed down through generations in Taiwan.

The secret to the deliciousness of Taiwan’s braised pork rice 滷肉飯 lies in the addition of essential Taiwanese ingredients during the cooking process. That’s precisely why you must come to BeMyGuest Taipei Cooking Class in Dadaocheng with Alex to explore this culinary treasure.

Pork thick soup 蒜味肉羹湯 is one of the most popular and delectable soup dishes in Taiwan. Different regions have their unique variations, we will cook the garlic-flavored one, which has been my favorite since I was a kid.

Enjoy.
